Movistar won the team time trial to kick off the 2012 Vuelta a España on Saturday in Pamplona.

Spaniard Jonathan Castroviejo will start stage 2 in the red jersey of the overall leader.

“The first goal of Movistar was to win the opening stage because of racing at home,” said Castroviejo. “This is a beautiful moment of my life. At the meeting this morning, we didn’t speak about who should cross the line first. We only mentioned that it was a very difficult finale with cobblestones. We thought it would be tight at the end, so we’ve given 100 percent. It’s marvelous.” Taken from Velonews race report
