Team Raleigh notch up two wins over the weekend

Ian Wilkinson wins Saturdays Eddie Soens Memorial Race.

Ian Wilkinson notched up Team Raleigh’s first home soil win of the season today (Saturday, 1st March 2014) with victory in the first major race of the calendar, the Eddie Soens Memorial Race in Aintree.
In the biggest British race of the season so far, Wilkinson’s blistering sprint enabled him to edge breakaway compatriots Graham Briggs and Rob Partridge in a sprint for the line.

Team Raleigh put in a dominant show of force in Stafford last weekend with two wins and two second places in the Stafford Grand Prix (Friday 9th Aug) and the HMT Shugborough  Kermesse (Saturday 10th Aug), both part of the inaugural Staffordshire Cycling Festival.

Team Raleigh secure historic Premier Calendar 1-2

Evan Oliphant secured overall victory in the prestigious Premier Calendar series in Yorkshire on Sunday (28th July), with team mate Tom Stewart finishing 2nd overall to complete a superb Raleigh 1-2.

12th place at the Ryedale Grand Prix was enough to put the series beyond Evan’s closest rivals, with Tom finishing just behind him in 13th place.

Graham Briggs of Team Raleigh wins Nottingham Grand Prix

Graham Briggs took the win at the Nottingham Grand Prix on Friday (21st June) in a showcase of elite British cycling.

The race was part of the three day Experian Cycle Live festival which culminated in the famous Great Notts Bike Ride on Sunday. Following success at the Milk Race in Nottingham recently, where Raleigh’s Alex Blain took second, this was a chance for teams to show local fans exactly how exciting a high level, high speed crit race can be.

Team Raleigh signs British domestic cycling prospect Tom Stewart

Team Raleigh has scooped up one of the hottest prospects in British domestic cycling, Sheffield-based rider Tom Stewart.

The 23-year-old, who joins from Team Sportscover/Bioracer, is focussing his attention on racing for the first time  having recently completed his master degree.

Tom Scully of Raleigh solos to superb win in Redditch

The Scud, New Zealand’s Tom Scully of Raleigh solos to a great win in Redditch. Tom was part of a break that escaped early on and the peloton was happy to see escape to the point first Tom and then the rest of the break lapped the peloton.

Tom Scully dominated the race, winning the Costa Express fastest lap, the Sprints overll on the night, took the IG Gold jersey back in the  Sprints competition and won the race in style… a good night individually for the rider.

Team Raleigh's Alex Blain put on a top display for the crowds gathered in Raleigh’s home city for the return on the Milk Race on Sunday (26th May), taking 2nd place ahead of Olympic champion, Ed Clancy.

Team Raleigh take their 2nd victory in the Tour Series at Durham

Team Raleigh continued their perfect start in the 2013 Pearl Izumi Tour Series by taking victory in round two in Durham.

They follow in the footsteps of Rapha-Condor-Sharp and Endura Racing, who won the first two rounds in the 2011 and 2012 series' respectively. Both went on to take the overall title.

Individual glory on the night went to Kristian House (Rapha-Condor-JLT) for the second year in succession, and just like last year, he delivered a brilliant solo performance.

Lachlan Norris took 3rd at the Lincoln Grand Prix on Sunday and showed why he’s considered one of Team Raleigh’s top climbers, doing some of his best work on the race’s notorious 1/6 city centre climb.

Team Raleigh's Evan Oliphant wins Tour of the Reservoir

Team Raleigh's Evan Oliphant took victory in the Tour of the Reservoir Two-Day in Northumberland, sneaking off the front of the race to win stage two and snatch the overall win too.

The 31-year-old from Edinburgh crossed the line just a handful of seconds clear of the rest, but it was enough to take the overall victory from under the noses of the UK Youth team and secure his first Premier Calendar race win since the 2006 Ryedale Grand Prix.

Following his commanding performance in the prologue of the Tour de Normandie, Tom Scully continued his winning ways in the Good Friday Herne Hill track meeting.

Alex Blain secured a fantastic double coup for Team Raleigh in winning stage three of the Tour de Normandie on Thursday – reclaiming the yellow jersey and helping to move the team into overall first place ahead of the last three days of racing.

Great team work and perfectly executed tactics aided Alex to victory in the 159km race between Thuit-Signol and Argentan.

Team Raleigh secured their first podium spot of the season last weekend and were in with a great chance of further glory before bad luck struck at the GP Lillers.

Baptism of fire in Haut Var for Team Raleigh

Based in the south of France and with stella line up, Team Raleigh’s first race of the year was always going to be a stiff test.

The Tour du Haut Var didn’t disappoint with a two-day toil, including a 207km route and 3000m+ of climbing on Day 2.

Our top finisher was Australian climber Lachlan Norris (right) in 30th, coming in on the same time as stage one winner Thor Hushovd.
